The Growing of Shadow Banking
Uncovering a Hidden World
Shadow banking refers to a system of financial intermediation that involves entities and activities outside of the traditional banking system. These entities, which can include non-bank financial institutions such as hedge funds, money market funds, and finance companies, perform functions similar to traditional banks, such as lending and accepting deposits, but are not subject to the same regulations and oversight.
Shadow banking can also include certain activities within traditional banks, such as off-balance sheet lending.
